DK6 Search Workarounds
The site search function on DK6 is not working as effectively as we would like. We will improve it as soon as possible.
In the meantime, there are several easy workarounds to use for just about any search. We will explain how to maneuver for three of the most commonly requested types of search, namely Groups, Usernames, and Tags.
Groups
The most convenient, built-in search substitute is the Groups link now available via a link under the Community pulldown heading in the top nav bar.
That Groups page https://www.dailykos.com/groups is searchable (by group name) and sortable (by most members, newly created, or alphabetical). Many regular series, often requested by site members and users during this transition, can be located via that page.
Searching the Groups page for Ukraine, for example, displays four groups; the results are limited enough to make it clear which group is the busiest with the most recent posts. Thus https://www.dailykos.com/groups/community-ukraine-updates/ is likely to produce the most comprehensive coverage of the conflict.
NOTE: Some staff groups are now called "categories." Perhaps the most important staff group to know and to bookmark/follow is Announcements: https://www.dailykos.com/category/announcements/
We strongly recommend keeping an eye on this staff group, because updates about our progress with the DK6 transition will be listed there. These Announcement stories will be posted on the Front Page as well.
Usernames
A site's username link displays the user's profile, featuring that user's story archive.
Username (story author) links have a standard format: e.g. https://www.dailykos.com/user/kos
Note that some legacy users have names with spaces in them, e.g. https://www.dailykos.com/user/lisa-needham/ The convention now is to replace any space with a hyphen in the URL.
Of course, all stories carry a named author along with a link below the headline to "view profile." Once on that profile, you can bookmark that link for easy reference if you choose.
Tags
Some stories and authors are findable according to the tags they have put on their stories. All Legacy (pre-DK6 migration) stories have at least one tag. Now, that is no longer a requirement, so this tool may become less productive over time. Still, many authors of story series will continue to include them.
One frequent request is for the Abbreviated Pundit Roundup posts.
Those stories can be found under this link: https://www.dailykos.com/tag/apr
