DK6 Comment Loading Issues
One of the most common problems for site members in the wake of the DK6 site migration is that comments do not load, either not at all or intermittently. You may, therefore, be familiar with this error message:
We hope you can appreciate that what seems to be a very simple issue may actually have several different, and possibly interacting, causes.
A couple of remedies rest with us. For reasons outside our control, the platform supporting our comments is subject to a blanket block by many common adblockers. We are jointly seeking to have that label undone, but that process may be slower and more uneven than we would like.
We also have some work in progress to see if adjusting the time allotted to the comment load process will alleviate the problem, at least for some users.
Below we offer some steps you could take to see if resolution of the issue rests in your hands.
Site visitors and members interested in viewing and/or making comments have some options which apply to browsers, browser extensions, and VPN settings. (Many VPNs have built-in adblockers that could interfere in similar ways with comment loading.) You'll notice a pattern in these suggestions, since most of them concern settings that block or limit content in ways that prevent Viafoura from loading comments as expected.
- Make sure to clear the cookies AND the cache for our site on your browser.
- Disable the adblocker for www.dailykos.com.
- On Firefox, set the security level as "standard" rather than "strict."
- Edit adblocker settings to allow viafoura.co and viafoura.net.
- Confirm that your VPN, if you use one, does NOT filter for ads and trackers.
- Check your browser’s capacity to load comments while in private/incognito mode just in case some other extension is interfering with comment loading.

That possible source of interference arises from your computer's settings for DNS (domain name server) relative to Viafoura. It's possible that your browser is not recognizing Viafoura's "web address," in simplified terms, and so your browser needs a little help to do so.
This reference offers step-by-step suggestions for setting Cloudflare as the DNS provider for your browser: https://developers.cloudflare.com/1.1.1.1/encryption/dns-over-https/encrypted-dns-browsers/. Please note that there are other free DNS providers, e.g. Google [set the address to 8.8.8.8].
If you have tried to implement all of these workarounds, after which you have rebooted your device and logged off/on, and you STILL have problems, please let us know at the Help Desk. It will save us all time if you include your device details as well as a list of all the workarounds you have tried without success. (Screenshots of what you see also never hurt.)
Thanks for your patience and understanding as we navigate this complex transition.
