Taalofa is the greeting in Tuvalauan. I read some of the comments from re: Polynesians and Micronesians - we have been in the Pacific for over 5000 years. I never knew our nations ever had 'rivary' until we were renamed. Oral history is as important as dna evidence - dna evidence does not personify your lineage - but merely give you a possible 'race or grouping'. Oral history gives you your people and the story of your existence.
It has taken me awhile to get onto this site - OMG its so damn complicated to just 'reply'. I simply wanted to reply to many of the comments for Tuvalu and Polynesian, Micronesian, Melanesian.. Pacific Peoples - my people. Heck, we didn't segregate ourselves under these titles but we do live and travelled along 1/3rd of the planet surface...the Pacific Ocean (an Ocean of Islands)
Tofa (goodbye)
