When I try to open from your email, I get a message that your site is not secure and it won't let me open it! I'm working on trying to find out why, as I've never had a problem before. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the same problem, here is what I get served up:
"This server could not prove that it is u1584542.ct.sendgrid.net; its security certificate is from low-xdns.xfinity.com. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection.
           Proceed to u1584542.ct.sendgrid.net (unsafe)"
So I decided to opt out for a little while instead, but I could not do that either because the same thing happened.
What on earth is going on here?

I have the same message. u1584542.ct.sendgrid.net, using an iPad Air 2. Using Google on the same device, Daily Kos recommended opens in long form. Safari setup says to connect the iPad to another computer to reach Develop, from there to clear cache.

    Hello Norm,
Interesting that you are experiencing the same problem. Now let's see
what happens, i.e. what DailyKos does about it - whether they even respond.
I am running on an older Windows 7 desktop PC (still like that better than
my newer Win 10 machine). MS says it is maintaining Win 7 through 2020, and
they do a good job keeping it clean using their own Security Essentials.
They offer it at no charge but tell you to keep away from other
anti-virus/malware products because they could interfere.
Come to think of it, I still may have Avast Free Antivirus running in
background bec I can't seem to get rid of it, though I have tried.
So, let's await word from DailyKos.
Pl tell me if you rcvd this msg, so I know it didn't fall into a 'black
    hole'.
    * Best, Ro Pinto*

Hello, and thank you all for asking about this issue.

From what we can tell, it is a specific instance of a general problem. Sometimes the link in the email either fails to load completely (to a story or to a petition) and sometimes the link displays badly and will not work. Occasionally this failure is accompanied by an error message.

In your case, it seems to arise from how your email host, your network, and/or your computer handle the underlying information in our links. Adjusting firewall settings at one or more of those checkpoints might be necessary. Depending on your security protections, it might suffice if you permit link-forwarding. Or it might be necessary to go one level up and permit links from sendgrid.net At the moment, we can't be any more exact than this in describing the URLs (the links to the online stories).

We have been in contact with our own emailer, Action Network, to confirm that all is well, and from all we know, it is. We're continuing to monitor the situation.

If the links within your emails are displaying properly, in most cases what you'll see are the story titles (and it's usually quite obvious what are not). So if you go directly to dailykos.com with a keyword from a headline, you'll be able to find it. The Search window is toward the top right corner of the front page and any story page. Put the keyword or phrase in the Search window, click the spyglass icon, and you'll see a list of titles containing it. If it's distinctive enough, it'll be the only possibility returned.

Thanks for your interest in keeping up-to-date with the latest political developments and the activism we sorely need to protect our country.

This is the link to the message I'm getting. It says that the site ahead

Thank you, Peggy, for your detailed response. The 'white paper' from Google
Chrome is quite the read  I haven't accomplished going through all of
it, but it made me think there might be one particular, potential reason
why my computer system gets stuck when I try to follow any of DailyKos'
    suggested links.
I have a piece of software running in background mode called WOT (Web of
Trust) which scores sites on their safety/unsafety attributes. It seems to
consider Daily Kos as nonsecure and marks their e-mails with a fat, red
circle. In addition, it marks every link contained in the DK email text
(i.e. the list of links being presented to the reader for accessing
particular articles/items of presumed interest on the internet) with the
    same red circle.
    https://www.mywot.com/en/scorecard/sendgrid.com
WOT just doesn't seem to like DailyKos 樂

I haven’t had time to dig into this. DailyKos.com<http://DailyKos.com> “recommended” opens in Google with no issues but as the full stories, not the headlines.

Yes, thanks. Web of Trust has been a source of difficulty before, so it's not really a surprise that they continue to view us as suspicious.
That assessment seems (from what I can tell) to be based on their mistrust of link forwarding. But that's how we keep track of people's interest in our stories, so there's no simple way around WOT's dislike of our system. I should say we're not alone in this method, and it's not just our site that elicits this kind of response from them.
Up to you, of course, to decide how to maneuver in these interesting times.
    Appreciate the update.

I've NEVER had a problem with Daily Kos until this last week, and it seems
like many other people are in the same boat. I'm wondering who or what has
caused it to suddenly become "unsafe"? I'm sure we can all guess at the
source. All that does is make me more upset at what's going on here, not at
Daily Kos. We need to change what's going on before we end up in a police
    state!

Peggy, I agree fully. For all we know, WOT may be owned and run by
    conservatives.
So now, we just have to create a bookmark for DailyKos so that whenever a
line item appears that interests us in their e-mail, we easily jump onto
the DK website directly and get the whole low-down.
