what is used to calculate the values of total recommends and total comment ratings in profile?

I assumed total recommends would refer to the number of times comments were recommended but this does not appear to be the case. How is this explained?
What does total comment rating describe?

    I don't know how "Total Recommends" is calculated.

    "Total Comment Ratings" has been static since the implementation of DK4, which was like 6 years ago, and no longer tracked starting at that point. So in your case (as well as others that have signed up in those 6 years since) that stat will always be "0".

    Yes, both of those values have been inoperative for a long time now. We'll eventually redesign users' profile pages as part of completing our transition off of Perl, but for now it's not worth the developer time and effort to remove them from the display.
