strange scrolling behavior

One of the things I don't like about the dailykos website is that the diaries do not automatically open with comments expanded. I realize that you can set this if you are logged in, but I usually am reading the site without being logged in. So, when I open a diary I have to click on the "Expand" button, wait for the page to update, then begin scrolling usually with the slider on the right hand side of my browser (IE9 at this time). At some point I stop scrolling, read the diary or comments, and take my hand of the mouse. When I want to go back to scrolling I often will hit the down arrow key on my keyboard. At that point the webpage does something totally unexpected. It toggles between "expand" "shrink" and "hide". This behavior is very annoying and not something I've experienced on any other site.

whoanellie, this might be something unique to IE9. I logged out to see if it would happen to me, and it didn't with Firefox.

Awhile back people had a problem when they tipped a comment and then started to scroll down the page using the arrow keys. The tipped comment would jump over to hide! What people had to do, until it was fixed, was after clicking to tip, click somewhere else on the page to get the cursor out of the tip radio button.

That might work for you, until they can figure it out and fix it. After you've click Expand, click somewhere else - just an empty white space on the page - to get the cursor out of the Expand button. Then try arrowing down.

    I hope this works.
