Your links are not working. I like receiving the recommendations and have in the past been able to easily click on the link and it will come up in Safari. This has stopped happening! Any clue?

It has something to do with the sendgrid forwarding link.
I want to be able to access your links going forward and this is frustrating.

Still unable to view the links. send grid doesn't link the things in your newsletter and send me to the actural article. This has been going on for a long time and nothing changes. I may have to just delete Daily Kos entirely. Bummer!

Hello, and thanks for asking us about this issue. Sorry for the delay in replying to your query.

We have had reports from many users recently about our SendGrid links--that is, the links in our Daily Kos Recommended (and similar) emails. Some folks report that they get warning messages when they try to use the links while other people say that they are not able to use the links at all.

Unfortunately, there are limits on what we can do on our end. We are working on a fix for one specific problem that takes place “upstream” from anyone’s email inbox. That's the "DNS conflict" that some have reported (though from your ticket here I am not sure that this is the one affecting you).

But it is also possible for you to take a step (which we cannot take ourselves) to increase the success rates of our links.

Some background first--and feel free to skip this paragraph if you already know how these email links work. Our emails are created by us and sent from our own email domain, @dailykos.com -- and managed by Action Network. In turn, Action Network relies on SendGrid to package our hyperlinks appropriately. SendGrid and Action Network together use a limited set of IP addresses from which they send our emails. (Please see this page if you need a non-technical definition of IP addresses: https://www.lifewire.com/what-is-an-ip-address-2625920 )

This system works pretty well most of the time. But there can be problems. Nowadays, many email providers take extra security precautions to protect users from spam, and so they prefer a high level of confidence about the IP addresses to be considered safe sources of emails. That's an understandable approach to take, and usually it helps all of us, email producers and consumers alike. But not always, as we see.

Now for some action steps that YOU can take.

You yourself can help guarantee your receipt of our emails. The list of IP addresses used by Action Network and SendGrid--and therefore by us--is here: https://help.actionnetwork.org/hc/en-us/articles/204537459-Whitelisting-and-Whitelabeling-Action-Network-emails

We encourage you to share this list of IP addresses with your email host (the entity that supports your email domain) and with your internet service provider (the way you connect to the internet) so that they can “whitelist” them (add them to a list of safe/acceptable sources) Taking those steps can help in two ways. First, whitelisting will ensure that you are able to receive our Daily Kos Recommended/Daily Kos Elections Digest emails at all. Second, it’ll raise the odds that when you get them, they will have usable hyperlinks.

There are also a couple of workarounds you can try with respect to your emails as they are delivered to you now if you are interested.

If the links within your emails are displaying properly but not functioning properly, you will still see story titles (plus additional links to pages like petitions and donation portals). If you see one or more story that you want to read, one way to find them is to look at the Daily Kos Recommended list: https://www.dailykos.com/user/recommended/history That page will provide a list of titles you can skim for the one(s) you want to read.

Or, alternatively, you can Search for a specific title. Go directly to dailykos.com and put a key word or phrase from a headline in the Search window, which you will find in the top right corner of the front page (and any story page). Click the spyglass icon, and you'll see a list of titles containing it. NOTE: Do not use quotation marks; the Search function does not recognize them. If the word/phrase is distinctive enough, it'll be the only possibility returned.

I hope that one or the other of these suggestions will help you. Feel free to return for more details if you wish.

Thanks for your interest in keeping up-to-date through us about the latest political developments and the activism we sorely need to protect our country.
