I posted a comment in today's MDOT and used Matt Bevins. I subsequently backspaced the s to delete it, then submitted the comment. The typo appeared in the post.

It happened last night after I inserted the 'e' into deployed.

This is a subtle bug to track down, isn't it? We've had a couple of reports now. Thanks for adding to our evidence.

Firefox on a Dell laptop, Windows 8.1 Minimum RAM, so much swapping of memory to disc. My guess is that when disk activity gets high, both comment cacheing and the ability to mark comments as read take a hit. Comment marks cycle between almost instantaneous erasure on selection and taking a dozen runs through comments to take off the last marks.

    That could be.
This ticket here includes the most explicit description of the process to date, but I want to confirm that 1) you are making the corrections manually, not via spellcheck or any other browser feature, and 2) you DO see the corrected text displayed in Preview mode before you submit the comment--only to see the erroneous text published instead.
If these are not both true, please do let me know. Otherwise, thanks for the details.

Yes, I am making corrections manually, rather than through spellcheck, and most of them are for grammar in any case, and yes, the corrections show up on the Preview, as far as I can remember. That second question is more ambiguous, because sometimes I catch a mistake in Preview, go back, and then click through into Publish without stopping to double-check Preview, so I'm not altogether sure.
