For the last two days every time I click on the site, it has taken a very long time to load, prompting a "took too long to respond" window to pop up.
There are no other sites having the same issue for me.
Just wanted you to be aware.

    Thanks for letting us know.
It could be happening for you because you have a lot of data from the site in your browser's cache. We do push out a lot of information for the sake of speedy transfers from page to page, and if you're on the site regularly that can accumulate to the point of interfering with site load time. So clearing your cache > closing your browser > and rebooting your machine may help.
If you've not made any changes to your browser recently, such as adding any new extensions, this is most likely the remedy you need.
Appreciate your support of the mission of the site!

Here's the screenshot that just came up when I tried to log in

This site can’t be reached www.dailykos.com took too long to respond.

    Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
    Running Windows Network Diagnostics

After I hit the reload button, the site did come up after another fairly long delay.

Ah, thank you for the additional information.
Am I correct in thinking that you are reaching the site then via links in your email from Daily Kos? What browser and operating system are you using when you're doing this, by the way?

I'm asking because we have been hearing from users lately that the links are causing some problems for people with extra-cautious security programs. If this is the case for you, then the suggestions that follow may be helpful to you.

At some point along the way, the form of those links is triggering a security alert. For some users, the pages/stories won't load at all, while for others like you it takes an excessively long time.

There are a number of potential causes of such an alert, and after doing some extensive investigation on our end we are confident that there is no reason for concern. Still, it's inconvenient, so here are a few remedies you can try, if you like.

Depending on your security protections in place with your browser, your network, or your email provider, it might suffice if you are able to choose link-forwarding. While you are checking into that option, it might be necessary to go one level up and permit links from sendgrid.net (At the moment, we can't be any more exact than this in describing the URLs.)

This next option is less direct, but it might be easier in the long run if you can't get the links to be more functional. In most cases what you'll see within the emails are the story titles (and it's usually quite obvious what are not stories). So if you go directly to dailykos.com with a keyword from a headline, you'll be able to find it. The Search window is toward the top right corner of the front page and any story page. Put the keyword or phrase in the Search window, click the spyglass icon, and you'll see a list of titles containing it. If it's distinctive enough, it'll be the only possibility returned.

Thanks for your interest in keeping up-to-date through us about the latest political developments and the activism we sorely need to protect our country.
