Help people:

This error message said I should send it to you. I clicked Send on a kosmail to a fellow Kossack, and I got this:

If this error doesn't make sense to you, please submit this error message to the helpdesk.
The error was:
Can't call method "id" on an undefined value at /www/dk4-perl/current/lib/ScoopDK/Data/ line 251.
Time: 2018-10-07T03:18:28
Thanks for any help you can provide. I don't suppose that will include retrieving the message?

I've received that error often, so now I copy the message before clicking "Send", if it is more than a few sentences.

It could be just my imagination, but I've found that clicking "Preview", then "Send" helps cut down on errors. Another thing I've heard that works when you get an error: Right click "back" and your message would still be there, but I've never tried doing that.

    Thanks, bleeding blue -
You know, if I'm sending a series of Kosmails I will do that, but when it's
been months since my last kosmail, I forget to pre-copy it. I remembered
after sending the error report that I'd seen this before.

Yes, it still does happen. I'm pasting in our boilerplate reply below. It's still accurate. We still don't have a fix date, though the redesign necessary to it is coming along.
    Thanks for asking!

I'm sorry you're encountering this difficulty with sending a Kosmail. Unfortunately, it is a known problem with an unknown fix date. The problem arises from a mis-communication between the two main systems that underlie the site, and it will be a while longer until the rest of the transfer off of the old system is complete. Anything short of that can't address the issue.

In the meantime, though it is annoying, there are a few workarounds.
First, if you are writing a long message, it's a good idea to have it saved somewhere else. Despite the suggestions I'll offer below, the draft messages still sometimes get dropped.

Second, do use the Preview function before you hit Send. That can help, though it's no guarantee.

Third, when you do get this error message, don't give up. Use the back arrow on your browser to see if your draft message is still there. Usually it will be, and you can repeat the Preview and Send process. Sometimes, unfortunately, you'll have to do this more than once. But please be persistent; eventually it should go through.

    Hope all this helps!

Thanks for your patience and forbearance.
