Today when I tried to share articles on Daily Kos to Facebook the share/text box shrinks and then disappears altogether. I've been able to share by copying and pasting the URL to FB. Thanks, Libby Shaw/Carolyn Shore Aresu

Libby Shaw, the most reliable way to share any article is to copy and paste the link to it (aka the URL).

    1. Make sure you’re actually in the article you want (as opposed to just reading it on the DK front page). The easiest way to be sure is to click on the diary title (that definitely takes you in to that particular diary).

    2. Right click on the Title. You’ll see the option to “Copy Link Location.” Click that.

    3. Go to wherever you want to post/share the article and Paste the link. When you do that in Facebook (and then hit Enter), it will also then display the title and photo and the lede to the diary.

Thanks for asking, Libby Shaw, and thanks for the suggestion, Eyesbright.

It also may be the case that you have an extension on your browser that makes the sharing process difficult or impossible.

Some browser extensions designed to protect users' internet privacy do so by blocking requests to tracking 3rd party services. We see it most commonly when people have difficulty sharing stories to Facebook. "Disconnect" is one example of this kind of add-on or plug-in, but there is a whole class of them.

If this is the case for your browser, it's probably possible for you to disable this extension for Daily Kos if you choose. In any case, you may still share posts via copy&paste to your own timeline, per Eyesbright's suggestion, though that's not as convenient as using the share button.

We appreciate your support of the site.
