For sometime now it takes aprox 30 to 40 seconds to open Daily Kos and the same to select an article. What can be done to fix this. With my download speed at 175 mbs there is no reason you should be so balky. I also subscribe to Daily Kos.

    Hello, and thanks for asking.

It seems likely that one or both of the following issues might be causing your slow load. One might be an over-full cache. If you clear your cookies and cache for the site from your browser, that should help. (You might also try emptying your local storage.) After you do that clean-up, close your browser and reboot your computer.

The other might be an extension or add-on. There are a number of them in common use that have less-than-perfect compatibility with the site software. You can test for such issues by opening a private or incognito window, then going to the site's home page. If it loads appreciably faster, then you have the challenge of determining which of your extensions is causing the slow down. Often they can be disabled for certain sites, if that's your preference.

PS -- The terminology we use about "subscribing" is confusing. People can be part of the email list (to receive the Daily Kos Recommendeds), and we often call that "subscribing." But that condition is not related to site function or access in any way. On the site, it is possible to "subscribe," for $40/year, and that status gains you access to the website without advertisements. Different process altogether. If the latter interests you, here's the link:

In any case, we appreciate your support of the site.
