"comment hidden" box

The past few days, when I refresh DK, I get a box that says "that comment is hidden". I wasn't clicking on a comment, and there aren't any hidden comments in the diary I'm reloading. It's weird.

Another weird thing - about half the time when I try to paste in a tweet, DK just completely ignores me. There's a discussion about it in my most recent diary: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/9/21/1700480/-To-my-AIDS-Walk-Austin-Donors-You-re-The-Best-Thing. So, 2 weird things, I don't know if they're related.

    Hello, anotherdemocrat.

Sorry for the delay in replying; thanks for raising these issues.

I'm not sure (yet?) what to say about them, but let's see what we can figure out.

First, I need to confirm the OS and browser you're using when you have this odd behavior. Does it vary with your browser, if you have a chance to use another one? Or does it improve if you view the site on a private or incognito window?

If so. then that points to some interference likely caused by an add-on or extension to your browser. The use of a private window disables all extensions, so you have a bare browser in that condition. You should be able to select which one(s) to disable when you're operating a non-private window, thus enabling you to determine through process of elimination which extension is causing the difficulty.

But that's assuming the problem is arising there. It's also possible, though, that the site storage on your computer has gotten compromised in some way. We push a lot of data to users' local setup to increase speed of page loads, and that data does not always remain in pristine condition. Clear your cache and cookies for Daily Kos and see if that helps, too. Closing and reopening your browser after that, even rebooting altogether, might make the necessary difference.

Those are the two first steps to take in diagnosing a site function problem. If they don't resolve the issue for you, please feel free to return with more examples.

Thanks for your support of the site. And that is a lovely post about an important cause; I second all the affirmations you received from the commenters.

Hi - sorry I didn't see this. I checked in on this post again because this morning I couldn't paste an embed from Twitter again. And I know it's DK, because I pasted it in another place just fine. So what the heck could that be?

The "comment hidden" thing has stopped happening. I use IE both on my work desktop & at home. Yes, I know, IE sucks. But it's the browser that remembers my passwords.

    thanks for the help!
and it will haste here, but not there???

more info - I tried several different ways to paste the tweet & the video directly, what eventually worked was closing the twitter tab, opening a new one then going to the tweet & doing the "embed" thing. It did eventually work: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2017/10/12/1699522/-MFWOT-Daily-Update-ThreadThursday-October-12,-2017
