When I wrote a comment, it previewed correctly, but then put "Defang" in the subject line.

The reason it's doing that is because the comment subjects are getting fed through the defanger, but the thing is they already are receiving an even more thorough cleaning. We could either move it around or stop running them through the defanger and just leave it at what it was doing before.

(This is just a sample bug, but yes, it confuses the users.) My proposed solution would be to strip out the defang or to set it to preview with the defang.

I thought it was to prevent people from putting html in subject lines. Agree with eel that it at least needs a warning so posters can correct it before posting.

Oh, hi. I looked for eel on Daily Kos and didn't see that name. Now I see you are support staff. I think I guessed who it is. :) Sorry to interrupt your discussion. :) Carry on!

Yes, eel == elfling. I had to have a different name while we were getting it all set up and integrating the shared logins.

elfling, here is a comment where apparently one of the brackets, > , in the subject line did not show up, but it did not say defang. Unless the poster erred, it just omitted a character when posted:

This should behave much better now.
