How to get back to the old way of organization

I really, really, really do not like the new frontpage. I like the current layout with the news and then the categories of blogs and other news on the side. Makes it very easy to find stories that I'm interested in. I will have to seriously consider cancelling my subscription if I can't find and easy way to get to the stories and see the popup summaries. I don't have any need for big (and wasteful) images.

I agree. I'm predominantly a reader (an avid one at that!) and this new organization of the Web site is EXTREMELY derivative. As in, why is DK copying the look/feel of Huff Post and other such sensationalistic sites? All this invites is a cursory look at headlines and pix, NOT a deep dive into the great writing at Daily Kos, the true star of the Web site. PLEASE re-consider this move and return to former organization.

Hello to you both, and thanks for your comments.

We do realize that the switch is unwelcome to many regular readers. We are doing our best to make the transition as painless as possible, while noting that the "as possible" is a pretty vague phrase.

Let me offer a couple of suggestions. One is that for the time being, it is possible for you to switch back to the old-style front page. Eventually that option will be turned off, but we have a number of post-launch adjustments to make before that transition is complete. You may set your page load back to the old one by visiting this page: https://www.dailykos.com/softlaunch/set_default

Note that the site servers are routing a small percentage of users to the new page on a random basis, so even after resetting your FP option by visiting the link above, the next time you start a new session on the site (after deleting your cookies, for example) it's still possible you'll wind up getting the new style FP. In that case, you'll need to repeat the visit to this special URL.

The other is that you are both welcome to participate in the stories where this change is discussed. It's true that we won't go back to the old way; it's also true that there's always room for improvement. We are aware of some important tasks that we still need to do. We solicit input from our readers/members for other adjustments, too.

Many readers have asserted that the old Front Page was not "broken" and thus didn't need to be "fixed." Unfortunately, there actually were many ways in which the design, features, and structure of the old site WERE broken and an overall fix was necessary as a consequence. It may well be that the path we chose won't satisfy everyone, and it's always up to individual readers and site members to decide whether the negatives outweigh the positives. We hope that you'll persevere and stay active all the same, even if these changes are not ones you welcome.

Thank you, most sincerely, for your support of the site's mission.

Where are the diaries? I’m even having troubles commenting. Have been through every front page change, check my low ID, and this is the worst. I can learn the rest but I want an easy way to find the diaries. The diaries are what makes daily kos different, and BETTER.

    JWC,
I'm with you all the way. <---this is an understatement!
Someone posted this link to use to get to the diaries (and I think it will be of help to you): https://www.dailykos.com/blog/diary
