I have removed ALL plugins everything, removed chrome and reinstalled, cleared history and caches...every other site I've had no problems...I can though share from pages that offer petitions on Kos...could it possibly be the ungodly number of Ads trying to load on every page? One of your Ads locking things up...Your team has to look a little deeper because this is the only site I've had this problem and it's getting downright annoying...maybe I should move my donations to a site that works!

what I have discovered is that the link opened from Dailykos is not secure (https://) rather it brings up the unsecure site simply www.dailykos...but if I go to a petition page it comes up as https://www.dailykos....why is this? I can manually bring up each article by adding https:// on each article, but why is this? It used to be automatic.

Thanks for asking about the problem. Sorry that it is causing you annoyance.

Let me first offer you our standard explanation -- standard because it's been something we have been able to replicate, and addressing it has resolved the issue for other users. I realize that you probably don't fall into this category if you've eliminated all your add-ons, but I'll include it for reference.

Some browser extensions designed to protect users' internet privacy do so by blocking requests to tracking 3rd party services. We see it most commonly when people have difficulty sharing stories to Facebook. "Disconnect" is one example of this kind of add-on or plug-in, but there is a whole class of them.

If this is the case for your browser, it's probably possible for you to disable this extension for Daily Kos if you choose. In any case, you may still share posts via copy&paste to your own timeline, though that's not as convenient as using the share button.

Now, if you don't have any extensions to create this problem, then perhaps it is a problem of having so-called "mixed content," that is, a site with some pages as http and other pages as https. We are working on the transition to https everywhere and getting closer every day.

But since this is not a widespread complaint, I suspect there is something else that's causing the FB share problem for you. You're using Chrome -- on a Mac or a PC? We can investigate more effectively if we have that OS/browser information.

Not to rub salt in a wound, but it is possible to subscribe to the site and thereby obtain the ability to hide ads. Annual subscriptions cost $40, and you can sign up for one at this link: https://www.dailykos.com/subscribe

You can also help us troubleshoot the situation by seeing if you have the problem on another browser. Again, since this is not something we're hearing from a lot of users right now, it's likely to be something associated with your setup.
